Senior Signalling & Train Control Expert

Morpheous is seeking a Senior Signaling & Train Control Expert to join its India team to assist with current and exciting future projects. We are looking for a professional who enjoy working with people in a multidisciplinary team environment and strive for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Basis Review: Review APD and DED design basis, assumptions, and system philosophy for signaling, interlocking, and train control. Verify compliance with fail-safe principles, SIL 4 safety requirements, and international railway standards 

• System Design Assessment: Assess Automatic Signaling, Train Control, and ATP systems including vehicle detection devices (AFTC/Digital Axle Counters) and interlocking layouts. Review system reliability, redundancy, fault tolerance, and power supply arrangements (UPS and diesel backup) 

• Safety Integrity Level (SIL-4) Verification: Confirm all safety-critical systems meet SIL-4 requirements and fail-safe principles 

• Interlocking System Review: Review detailed system design, interlocking schematics, control center design, and system integration with track layouts and operations 

• Power Supply and Redundancy: Verify power supply arrangements including UPS systems and diesel backup to ensure uninterrupted safe operations 

• Value Engineering and Optimization: Conduct value engineering to improve cost-efficiency, operational performance, and equipment layouts while maintaining safety 

• Operation and Maintenance Assessment: Evaluate O&M aspects including ease of inspection, diagnostics, remote monitoring, and future maintenance minimization. Analyze available existing maintenance data and integrate lessons learned 

• System Integration Review: Ensure seamless integration with traction power, telecommunications, rolling stock, and other railway systems. Identify and resolve interface conflicts 

• Documentation Review: Review all DED reports, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and software for completeness, accuracy, and operational readiness 

• Standards Compliance: Verify compliance with international standards for railway signaling (CENELEC, IEC, etc.) and cybersecurity (IEC 62443) 

• ETCS Compatibility: Assess compatibility with ETCS (European Train Control System) levels and future upgrade paths 

• Testing and Commissioning: Define testing and commissioning requirements for signaling systems ensuring protocols and certification steps are incorporated into bidding documents 

• Gap Identification: Identify shortcomings, gaps, or inconsistencies in DED and provide technical recommendations. Formally notify deficiencies and support Client in resolving issues

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical/Telecom/Systems Engineering Key Technical Competencies Required 

• Railway Signaling Systems: Deep expertise in modern railway signaling including CTC, ATP, ATC, and ETCS 

• Interlocking Technology: Knowledge of electronic, computer-based, and relay-based interlocking systems 

• Safety Standards: Expert understanding of SIL-4, CENELEC standards (EN 50126, 50128, 50129) 

• Train Control: Experience with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and train control systems 

• Axle Counter Technology: Knowledge of digital axle counters and track circuit systems 

• Cybersecurity: Understanding of IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards for railway control systems 

• System Integration: Experience integrating signaling with telecommunications, power, and operational systems 

• RAMS Analysis: Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) principles 

• Fault Tree Analysis: Ability to conduct safety analysis and risk assessment

Additional Informations

Work Arrangement: 

• Minimum 60% on-site presence for field verification 

• Coordinate with Track Design Specialist, Bridge Engineer, and Geotechnical Expert 

• Participate in site visits and alignment verification activities
